Seasonal Assistant Groundskeeper 2018 - Frederick Keys (Frederick, MD)

Assist in planning, supervising and executing the maintenance of Harry Grove Stadium.  The Assistant Groundskeeper is a seasonal position which runs From February thru September.  The Assistant Groundskeeper is an important part of maintaining a state of the art playing surface. They will be involved in all on field maintenance including mowing, field marking, fertilization, irrigation, mound and plate repair, edging, skin maintenance, tarping, batting practice setup and breakdown, aerification, and set up for extra events that will be held at Nymeo Field.   The Assistant Groundskeeper will also be overseeing other grounds crew members.

Requirements - Candidates must have prior turf experience along with a strong work ethic, a desire to learn and have working knowledge of the maintenance of sports fields; the seeding, sodding and maintenance practices for sports field turfgrass; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials; and irrigation system, including, pumps and automatic controls. Candidates must be available to start in March and able to work throughout the entire season.  A degree in turf or a related field is preferred but quality of prior experience will be considered heavily if candidate has no formal education.  Candidate must be able to work long hours during the season including weekends and holidays.

Stadium Operations Assistant Seasonal 2018 - Frederick Keys (Frederick, MD)

Qualifications:             

-  Individuals seeking entry into sports industry with a focus in Facility Operations.

-  Background in stadium management and event management preferred but not required.

-  Ability to work night and weekend events.

-  Knowledge of baseball.

-  Superior problem-solver, with ability to work independently.

-  Strong communication and organizational skills.

-  Must be enthusiastic with a desire to work hard and have fun.

-  Must be a team player with leadership skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

-  Help with preparation of stadium for all events.  Assist other departments with implementation of game-day elements and game-day logistics.

-  Assist with day-to-day Stadium Operations: reception of stadium supplies, quality control of cleaning and maintenance, light maintenance duties, landscaping duties as needed.

-  Game-day inspections of facility to ensure a superior fan experience.

-  Supervise cleaning crew to ensure job is completed to Keys standards. 

-  Assist in tracking and completion of maintenance and improvement projects.

-  Assist with inventory of stadium capital, stadium supplies, cleaning products/supplies, and stored goods.

-  Assist with setup for our firework shows.

-  Assist with upkeep and service agreements of HVAC, plumbing, electric, security system, elevators, scoreboard, videobaord, sound system, fire sprinkler system, and trash removal.

-  Assist Director of Stadium Operations and Clubhouse Managers with game-day clubhouse duties.

-  In cooperation with the Director of Stadium Operations, management of the following game day staff - Ushers, Security, EMTs, Parking Lot Attendants, Fun Zone, Picnic Host, Birthday Party Host and Bat Boys.

All other duties as assigned by the General Manager and Director of Stadium Operations.

Length of Employment:                      Janurary 2018 – September 2018

Salary:                                                $1,000 month/college credit/free gym membership/game day meals

Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager and the general supervision of the Vice President of Operations. Candidate will assist the Facilities Manager in the day-to-day operation for landscaping, repairs/maintenance, cleaning, and office staff support at Haley Toyota Field.  Knowledge is helpful in the training, planning and scheduling the work of subordinate employees; knowledge in ordering, receiving, and maintaining inventory and records.  Must enjoy the leadership role and possess integrity, character and vision.  Must be a self-starter and self-motivated.  Must be comfortable working in an extremely busy environment and be prepared to work extended weekends, nights, holidays, and whenever necessary.

 

Qualifications/Experience:   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with a major in facilities management, business or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience in the field.  Individual must be outgoing, energetic, motivated & professional; team player with excellent customer service and analytical skills; the ability to solve time-sensitive issues; possess good organizational skills; proactive in making suggestions, creating new ideas & trouble shooting while paying close attention to detail; posses the desire to work long hours in a labor-intensive environment with the ability to display strong customer relations skills.

Compensation:          $500 per month + shared housing

Approx Hours:        Non-Game Days         M-F     9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

                                    Game Days                             9:00 AM – 11:00 PM

                                    Some weekends are required even when team is on the road.

Food, Beverage & Merchandise Assistant - Salem Red Sox (Salem, VA)

Responsibilities:         Under the direct supervision of the Food, Beverage & Retail Manager and the general supervision of the Vice President of Operations.  Candidate will be responsible for assisting in the planning, scheduling, and supervising of an effective, safe and profitable retail & food and beverage department.  He/she will assist the Food, Beverage and Retail Manager in the day-to-day operation for concessions, premium services, catering and corporate picnics at Haley Toyota Field. He/she will also assist the Food, Beverage & Retail Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Team Store including operating the POS system, pricing and merchandising products, receiving orders and assisting in inventory controls. Knowledge is helpful in the training, planning and scheduling the work of subordinate employees; knowledge in ordering, receiving, and maintaining inventory and records; knowledge of state health and ABC laws pertaining to the storage, handling, and preparation and the dispensing of food and beverages.  Must enjoy the leadership role and possess integrity, character and vision.  Must be a self-starter and self-motivated.  Must be comfortable working in an extremely busy environment and be prepared to work extended weekends, nights, holidays, and whenever necessary.
